1979 Pierce/Hendrickson
In 1997 the department purchased a 1979 Pierce pumper on a Hendrickson Chassis for a cost of $65,000. This truck had been refurbished by Finley Fire Equipment and had previously served a department in West Virginia. It featured a 1,250 gallon per minute top mount pump, a 750 gallon booster tank, and seating for 4 with 3 SCBA’s. Also includes 2-1 ¾” crosslays, one 150’ and the other 200’, 1,000’ of 4” stortz hose, 500’ of 2 ½” hose, 300’ of 1 ¾” hose, 24’ extension ladder, 14’ roof ladder, folding ladder, 17’ Little Giant ladder, 4 gas detector, and a 3,000 watt Inverter which runs 2 telescoping lights and 2 outlets. This truck is the primary engine on all our structure fires, alarm drops, and CO calls. Some of the major runs this engine responded to were the Thackery Elevator Explosion and subsequent fires following. This truck replaced the 1977 Ford FMC and has been in service since 1998. This truck was removed from service in June 2010 and the 2010 Pierce engine took its place. This truck was sold to a rural fire department in Kansas.
